Karl Storz Research Grant

JThe Association of VA Surgeons Foundation is pleased to announce the Karl Storz Research Award. This is a one-year grant available to members of the Association of VA Surgeons who are within 7 years following completion of their post-graduate training. Research proposals in clinical outcomes, health services research, education research, and basic science or translational research that emphasize minimally invasive innovations, patient safety, OR flow, and/or education utilizing new technologies will be considered. The award is $25,000 for one year. You must be an AVAS member to qualify.

Priority will be given to proposals with the potential to impact the clinical management of surgical patients in the VA setting which are well grounded in scientific principles. Please click on the link below to download the full details of the application process.

Note: The grant only allows for direct costs and a letter from your institution must be provided agreeing to this.

Active members of the Association of VA Surgeons who are within 7 years following completion of their post-graduate training are eligible to apply.

The application process will open on November 1, 2019.

AVAS Resident Research Award

​The Association of VA Surgeons Foundation is pleased to announce the  AVAS Foundation Resident Research Award.  This is a one-year award (with possible competitive renewal for a second year) available to general surgical or surgical subspecialty residents with a faculty mentor who has at least a 5/8ths VA appointment.  Research proposals in clinical outcomes, health services research, education research, basic science or translational research will be considered.  The award is for $25,000 for one year.
