AVAS Call for Abstracts
Dear AVAS Members,
The AVAS Call for Abstracts is now open. Please encourage your colleagues and residents to submit their best work. We have a new system we are using this year. Please create a new account if you have never seen this site before! Follow all the prompts to start a new abstract submission. If you have any concerns, please contact Sue Lentz directly at vasurgeons@gmail.com.
Our annual meeting dates are April 24-26 2022 in Pittsburgh, PA. Please arrange your schedule to allow you to stay an extra day or two to enjoy this great location. More details will be provided as they become available.
Authors of abstracts accepted for the meeting are invited to submit a manuscript to JAMA Surgery, the official publication of the Association of VA Surgeons. Manuscript submission is optional but encouraged, especially for abstracts with full length oral presentations. Authors of abstracts accepted as a full oral presentation may submit manuscripts using the “Original Investigation” or “Research Letter” format, depending on the quality and quantity of the data included in the manuscript. Authors of abstracts accepted as a Quickshot presentation may submit manuscripts using the “Research Letter” format. Please refer to the instructions for authors on the JAMA Surgery website.
Presentation competitions with prizes are available for residents and students:
Residents and students are eligible to participate in the Resident/Student Presentation Competition for cash prizes to be awarded at the meeting.
The AVAS will also select one basic laboratory research and one clinical investigation resident paper describing original research in trauma, critical care, or injury prevention to compete in the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Region 13 resident paper competition. The winner of the region will then attend to 2022 Annual Meeting of the Committee on Trauma with airfare and hotel stay paid for by the competition.
