On behalf of the Association of Veterans Affairs Surgeons (AVAS) Program Committee, I would like to personally invite you to attend the 42nd Annual Surgical Symposium of the AVAS in Miami Beach, Florida, on May 5-8, 2018. This year’s scientific program includes many diverse disciplines of clinical surgery, basic science, and health services research. There will be expert panel sessions and Q&A opportunities with leaders in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) central office including Dr. Carolyn Clancy (VHA Executive-in-Charge) and Dr. William Gunnar (VHA National Director of Surgery).
We hope that our meeting will be a network for all disciplines related to the care of the surgical patient to meet, to discuss common issues, to develop partnerships, and to present peer-reviewed research. Given our affiliation with JAMA Surgery, presenters have the opportunity to submit manuscripts to this journal. There will also be designated family time in the meeting agenda for attendees to enjoy beautiful the Miami Beach locale.
