Authors of abstracts accepted for the meeting are invited to submit a manuscript to JAMA Surgery, the official publication of the Association of VA Surgeons. Manuscript submission is optional but encouraged, especially for abstracts with full length oral presentations. Authors of abstracts accepted as a full oral presentation may submit manuscripts using the “Original Investigation” or “Research Letter” format, depending on the quality and quantity of the data included in the manuscript. Authors of abstracts accepted as a Quickshot presentation may submit manuscripts using the “Research Letter” format. Please refer to the instructions for authors on the JAMA Surgery website.
As we did this past year, to allow expedited publication, manuscripts from the meeting will be published upon acceptance in JAMA Surgery.
Please adhere to the following instructions:
During manuscript submission:
Upon submission of the manuscript to JAMA Surgery, email the Recorder of the AVAS, Alan Dardik, MD PhD, email@example.com, the following information:
Please note: Failure to email Dr. Dardik with the above information will result in review of the manuscript independently of the meeting.
Submission of a manuscript for consideration for publication as part of the AVAS Annual Meeting implies a willingness by the first and/or senior author of the manuscript to review 1-3 other manuscripts for JAMA Surgery in a timely fashion, if requested to do so. For the peer review process to function well, it is imperative that all first and/or senior authors be willing to participate in the process as reviewers in addition to functioning as authors.
Perioperative Care and Operating Room Management Journal
If the content is appropriate, manuscripts may also be submitted to the journal, “Perioperative Care and Operating Room Management.”
